(MY ROLE)

  • Redrew the Border Police emblem and built the system around it: six colors with print values, one Hebrew typeface, and twelve unit insignia as one family.
  • Wrote the uniform placement map - every patch, rank and tag, by sleeve and by shoulder.
  • Designed a new symbol and seal for YAMAM, and the black, gray and yellow system around them.
(OVERVIEW)
Two units, two badges, one design division. The Border Police emblem was rebuilt as a full system, and YAMAM got a new symbol and seal. Both projects share the same rules: keep what people recognize, redraw it clean, and write down how it is used.
(THE CHALLENGE)
Both badges existed only as traced files with no rules: no color values, no typeface, no guide for the uniform. Each unit needed a mark that works on a patch, a screen and a wall.
(THE SOLUTION)
Two brand books built as tools. For the Border Police: a clean emblem, twelve unit insignia, a palette, a Hebrew typeface and a uniform map. For YAMAM: a facelift of the badge, a new symbol and a black, gray and yellow system.

  4. 04

    Rollout

Patches, posters, social and web, all from the same systems.

(PART 01)

Border Police

A brand refresh: emblem, colors, type, twelve unit insignia and a placement map for the uniform.

Brand Refresh

Same watchtower, same arched name. The emblem was redrawn on a grid, extra points were removed, and it now holds up at small sizes.

Border Police - the previous emblem, an auto-trace carrying hundreds of extra points
Border Police - the emblem redrawn on its construction grid
Border Police - the cleaned vector, point by point
Border Police - the refreshed emblem beside the one it replaces
Border Police - the emblem family: primary mark, one colour, official seal

Emblem in Material

The new emblem tested on different materials: brass, polymer, print, chrome, ink, stone, leather and fabric.

Border Police - the emblem on polymer, on a rifle body
Border Police - the emblem printed as a postage stamp
Border Police - the emblem in black ink on paper
Border Police - the emblem cut into stone
Border Police - the emblem under a red light
Border Police - the emblem woven into camouflage fabric

Color & Type

The colors come from the force itself: the green of the beret and the gray of the patches. The light green is a tactical choice, a muted tone that does not reflect light at night. One Hebrew typeface, Fb Constructor, in four weights.

Border Police - the six colours with their print values, from Off-Road Green to Snowflake
Border Police - Fb Constructor, the Hebrew typeface, set in four weights

Unit Insignia

Twelve units, one family. Every insignia uses the same ring, the same lettering and the same two colors, and was produced as a patch.

(PART 02)

YAMAM

A new emblem and identity for YAMAM, Israel's national counter-terror unit: a facelift of the badge, a clean symbol and a black, gray and yellow system.

YAMAM - the new identity

The Symbol

The old badge, the construction grid and the new symbol. Wings, sword and star stayed. Everything was redrawn.

YAMAM - the new symbol, drawn clean
YAMAM - what each part of the symbol carries: wings, sword and star

The Badge

The round seal rebuilt around the new symbol, in Hebrew and in English, and tested at every size down to a 10 percent patch.

YAMAM - the seal held at every size, down to a ten percent patch

Color & Type

Photography

One treatment for every photo: black and white, high contrast, grain. The unit stays recognizable, the faces do not.
